Remote Light Source

remotelightsource

During the clearance of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) it is often necessary to undertake tests to determine if the perpetrator has used an initiation system which is sensitive to light. This can be achieved by deploying and activating the Remote Light Source.

The Remote Light Source (RLS) is a remotely switched high intensity light. It is contained in a metal transit case, which also serves as the base for supporting the light.

The light has a deployment radius of 4m from the fixing point on the base, through an arc of 120 degrees.

The Remote Light Source is operated from a control unit which can be up to 150 metres away from the assembly.
